FAQ

What is the difference between a low-calorie (low-energy) diet and a high-protein diet?

A properly implemented and precisely followed protein diet MAHONY® DIET - thanks to its high protein content and low sugar content - will quickly bring the organism into a state of so-called "ketosis", which is an indicator of the breakdown of stored fat tissue and its transformation into energy, which is large enough to ensure the normal functioning of the human organism. Little is known that ketone bodies are - next to glucose - the "fuel" that our brain can "drive" on. It's like a car that can burn both gasoline (glucose) and diesel (ketones). Ketosis is disrupted especially by the external supply of carbohydrates and fats, therefore even a small deviation from the described principles means the end of ketosis and the protein diet suddenly becomes an "ordinary" low-calorie diet, and with it also ends the protection of muscle tissue as a source of stored energy.

Can "ketosis" be objectified somehow?

Yes, for example with a urine reaction test with an indicator strip that determines the concentration of ketone bodies by color. Another, albeit very rough, indicator is the smell of acetone on the breath, which we correct by using candies or chewing gum without added sugar.

Why can't natural proteins (meat, fish) or dietary substitutes of usual food sold freely in stores be used in the diet?

Some "normal" protein-rich foods can be used even during a diet, knowing that proteins do not exist in their natural state in the required purity. All of them also contain fats, which make it impossible for a hyper protein diet to "work". Common diets that you can buy in stores and pharmacies are substitutes for "normal" meals. In addition, they contain too many sugars, which also excludes them from being used in a protein diet. A number of them do not fit into a diet at all, some can be used in stabilization phases to maintain reduced weight. However, if the client wants to lose weight quickly, he simply cannot do without instant protein meals.

Do you need a medical recommendation to get a protein diet?

The protein diet has several health limitations and should only be used in healthy, adult individuals as part of "self-reduction". In case of any doubt, you should ask your general practitioner.

Are any "weight loss" drugs used with the protein diet?

Essentially not. The protein diet is an effective and completely natural way of reducing body weight, which does not require any chemical aids. That is, no hormones, no drugs to suppress the feeling of hunger, no drugs to support the body's drainage. Understandably, all other types of medicine that the patient was taking before deciding to go on a protein diet will also be taken during it. The only exception is syrups containing sugars. These must be replaced by another medicinal form.

Will I be hungry on the protein diet?

Ketones suppress the feeling of hunger very effectively. It is a natural measure that increases a person's chances of survival even during long-term starvation. In addition, proteins of high biological quality induce a feeling of satiety by themselves. The first two days of a stricter diet are particularly difficult, i.e. the 48 hours needed for the body to enter ketosis. Therefore, we recommend that clients start their protein diet at the end of the work week or the weekend.

How long does the protein cure have to last?

The time is individual, according to the target weight loss. So everything depends on how many kilograms the client needs to reduce.

What happens after the protein diet ends?

A protein diet in itself is only a necessary means to reduce weight, not the goal of your efforts. After completing it, 2 things should always happen: Switching to a healthy snacking program and introducing regular physical activity into your lifestyle.
